“X-Men: Apocalypse” Looking to Cast Young Jean Grey and Scott Summers
And by young, we mean young.
According to reports, Bryan Singer is faced with recasting two of the most iconic X-Men for their roles in the Apocalypse inspired next installment of the (basically-rebooted) X-Men franchise.
For the role of Jean Grey, it looks like it’s mostly between Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass, 30 Rock, Hugo, Carrie), Elle Fanning (Maleficent, Super 8, We Bought a Zoo), and Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Ender’s Game).
At least, that’s the short list. There are said to be others in the contending.
For the role of a young Scott Summers/Cyclops, the names Ben Hardy (East Enders), Charlie Rowe (Never Let Me Go), and Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar, Red Band Society) are being thrown around.
This has fans speculating that, since the ladies of for the role of Jean Grey are each significantly further along in their careers than the young men, Kean Grey’s role will be much more significant in the film, as the reecurent cast members from First Class and onwards return to battle the world’s first, and arguably most powerful, mutant in the 1080s.
Bring on the leg warmers and side ponytails.
X-Men: Apocalypse has a release date of May 27, 2016.
