What We Would Like to See Happen on This Season of ‘True Blood’
After seeing the season premiere and the what is to come trailer it left some concerns and questions, this is what I would like to see happen on the last season of True Blood.
Rosario Dawson & Elden Henson join the ‘Daredevil’ cast
More casting news about the Netflix series Daredevil, Rosario Dawson and Elden Henson will be joining the cast.
“a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.”
That is a synopsis of Dawson’s character, there is not exact word on who she will be playing but many people are speculating that she might be taking on the role of Electra. I could see her in such a role, Sin City has given us a good idea of what she might be capable of. At the same time she might not be taking over that role and might be playing someone completely different because the show had no problem letting us know who was playing Kingpin. Since Electra is such in an important role in this universe it would be shocking if they did not put her in the series. If no one else is cast as Electra officially before the series airs then Rosario Dawson is Electra.
Henson will be playing Foggy Nelson who happens to be Matt Murdock’s best friend and legal partner. The description for Foggy Nelson is:
“tight with the Hell’s Kitchen community, making him a friend to many in all walks of life.”
Many people should remember Henson from the Mighty Ducks movies and we will see him as Pollux in Mockingjay. I know Marvel is rather excited about this casting.
What do you think about current casting choices? Who do you think Rosario Dawson might be playing?
Nathan Fillion ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ cameo confirmed
Nathan Fillion hinted months ago that he might have a cameo in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It has been confirmed by director James Gunn that Fillion will have a cameo role in the movie. This does not come as a shock to many people since Fillion has had a role some of Gunn’s other works. I am extremely excited to hear about Fillion’s cameo in the movie because I rather like him as an actor. His small role in Percy Jackson as Hermes was an amazing, he stole that scene. I am very curious to see what his will do with this role.
People have been speculating that Fillion might be playing the character of Nova, Gunn has confirmed that will not be happening. While Fillion will be in the movie he will not be taking on such an important role. Some people speculate that is because of his lead role on Castle he does not have the time to do it. This could be very true if the filming times conflict, but let’s be fair many TV stars have filmed a movie during the summer hiatus. It could also be because Gunn does not want to put Fillion on all of his movies. A lot of directors are like that, come on George Lucas was horribly against having Harrison Ford in Star Wars and Indiana Jones because he did not want to get a rep for always using the same people. Maybe Gunn decided that he should do some movie without Fillion having such a large role.
Whatever the reason, we do now that Fillion will have a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy. As to what role/character he will be playing no one knows. Many people are thinking he might play a role similar to the one he had on Firefly.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be out on Aug 1st.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trailer #2
Well we have a new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles out
I will admit this trailer makes me feel a bit better about the movie, not a lot but more so in the sense that the turtles personalities don’t seem to be messed up. It looks like they kept the personalities true to each turtle, which I am happy about, because if they had messed that up it would have been horrible. Otherwise nothing else really seems all that great in this movie, well the action scenes do look really good, I will say that.
Can we talk about the transformer that is in the movie?
Seriously what was the point of making Shredder look like that, I swear Michael Bay is still trying to capitalize on his Transformers success. While Transformers was a really successful franchise for Bay, this is not Transformers there was no reason that I can think of to turn Shredder into a Transformer. Well we all knew that there would be a good chance of Michael Bay messing up this movie.
What do you think will the movie be good or bad?
True Blood Recap: Jesus Gonna Be Here
True blood is back for its final season, I would say I am severely disappointed by this but after last season, it might be for the best. I have no idea what they were thinking last season. I won’t even get into how much the show has deviated from the books. I have watched True Blood since the beginning so it is only fair that I see it through to the end. Even though I question why I am still watching this show, with that being said let’s check out what happened in the season premiere.
‘Gotham’ spotlights some of the villains
In a new short clip from Fox’s Gotham, they spotlight Catwoman, The Penguin, and Fish Mooney.
The clip is short but it does tell us that young Selina Kyle, Oswald Cobblepot and Fish Mooney are going to major villains. I am not sure if it’s for the whole series or if it is just for the first season. I’m pretty is it will be for the whole series, well maybe not for Fish Mooney since the Penguin works for her. At the same time it is nice get a slight idea how these villains are going to be worked into the series. We already know that The Riddler and Poison Ivy are also going to be in the series and have already been cast. The Riddler is working in the forensics department of the Gotham PD. Fish Mooney is a business women/crime boss in the city. The Penguin is one of her low-level thugs, it looks like she sends him out to do some of the beatings. Young Selina Kyle is just a little thief that should not be cornered. It looks like Gordon and Bullock might have their work cut out for them with this crew. There is still talks of bringing in the Joker which could also mean seeing Harley Quinn. As well all know there is a long list of Batman villains still left to be introduced. I am very interested to see how they put this all together.
DC Rumoured to Plan 7 Movie Releases in 2 Years
According to Nikki Finke, formerly of Deadline, Warner Brothers is planning to release over a half-dozen live-action movies based on DC Comics properties.
The schedule is reportedly as follows:
- May 2016 – Batman v Superman
- July 2016 – Shazam
- Christmas 2016 – Sandman
- May 2017 – Justice League
- July 2017 – Wonder Woman
- Christmas 2017 – Flash/Green Lantern team-up
- May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2
So, a couple of things from this. Assuming that this is accurate…
Apparently, Dawn of Justice is not Man of Steel 2. Man of Steel 2 is going to be a separate movie, released 5 full years after its first installment. That… Seems like bad planning. If/when fans have their little movie marathons, Superman’s going to be aging super-fast. How old will he be by the time the third movie comes out?!
And then there’s BatFleck, who has bulked up a bit, but who still faces a heck of a lot of nerdrage.
Also… Can we not just call it “Captain Marvel?” Are we so sure that audiences are so uninformed as to confused Captain Marvel with Marvel Studios? I mean… I guess, but I’m sick of people calling one of DC’s heaviest hitters by the wrong name.
Also, if DC darkens this character, too, I don’t know what I’ll do with myself.
How tied-in to the rest of the DC Universe is the “Sandman” movie going to really be? Is he involved in JLA shennanigans? It’d certainly be a shake-up, but I don’t know that I would like that. In fact, I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t, unless the story were truly tremendous.
And speaking of movies that will need a fantastic story for me to really get behind them… GL and Flash? Yeah. I love Green Lantern (the characters, not the movie *barf*), but have little attachment to the Flash. I loved Bart Allen in Young Justice and that was the end of my association with the Speed Force.
But the biggest deal here for me, for my Fangirls, and for women and feminists everywhere is going to be the supposed Wonder Woman movie. Will it stay true to the comics, pre-DCnU? Hopefully, as the New 52 origin of Diana of Themyscira has been butchered to make the only truly independently female icon’s beginnings now based on a man.
Also, a few weeks ago, Gal Gadot posted a progress picture of her workout to her Facebook page, certain that her new buff body would finally silence all of the nay-sayers complaining about her being too thing to play the Princess of the Amazons.
Now, maybe it’s the angle. There is some bicep and deltoid definition there, but that’s a hell of a slim brachialis still, so I don’t think that this photo is going to quell any of those fans’ concerns. It certainly isn’t doing anything for mine… I’ve made no secret of the fact that I have little faith in the casting, and I should clarify that I don’t like pretty much all of the casting news that I’ve heard so far, but I am going to go into the movies with as unbiased an opinion as I can. After all, I was pleasantly surprised by Anne Hathaway’s portrayal of Selina Kyle in “The Dark Knight Rises.”
But, really, there is so much that they could do wrong with the character. The story could be garbage, the costume could be wrong, they could over-sexualize her, Gadot may not be a good fit for the character, they could put her together with Superman and make me hate them even more than I did when they cast Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
The one thing that Warner Bros really does have going for them is that all of their licensing falls under their own label, so they don’t face the limitations that Marvel has with respect to crossovers between Spider-Man (Sony), X-Men (Fox), and the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy (Marvel Studios).
Of course, Marvel is doing just fine for themselves and DC has been treading water since the mid-90’s.
What do you think of this schedule? Will it work? With WB already pushing back the release date of “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” by a years already, do you think that this schedule will actually be met?
Let us know in the comments!
