Rosario Dawson & Elden Henson join the ‘Daredevil’ cast

More casting news about the Netflix series Daredevil, Rosario Dawson and Elden Henson will be joining the cast.

rosario dawson

“a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.”

That is a synopsis of Dawson’s character, there is not exact word on who she will be playing but many people are speculating that she might be taking on the role of Electra.  I could see her in such a role, Sin City has given us a good idea of what she might be capable of.  At the same time she might not be taking over that role and might be playing someone completely different because the show had no problem letting us know who was playing Kingpin.  Since Electra is such in an important role in this universe it would be shocking if they did not put her in the series.  If no one else is cast as Electra officially before the series airs then Rosario Dawson is Electra.

Henson will be playing Foggy Nelson who happens to be Matt Murdock’s best friend and legal partner.  The description for Foggy Nelson is:

“tight with the Hell’s Kitchen community, making him a friend to many in all walks of life.”

Many people should remember Henson from the Mighty Ducks movies and we will see him as Pollux in Mockingjay.  I know Marvel is rather excited about this casting.

What do you think about current casting choices?  Who do you think Rosario Dawson might be playing?

Vincent D’Onofrio will be joining the Netflix series ‘Daredevil’

As we all know Netflix will be airing a new Marvel series; Defenders which will include stand-alone series for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage.  After the stand-alone series they will all come together for the Defenders series.  Almost like the Avengers movies, since Marvel has such success with that who can blame them for trying it again.

Vincent D'Onofrio

Kingpin

There has been some recent casting news, Vincent D’Onofrio will be joining the Daredevil series as Kingpin.

“D’Onofrio will play Wilson Fisk, a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil.”

The studio is very excited about D’Onofrio joining the series:

“We’re incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ in such an integral role,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television. “Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero.”

D’Onofrio was cast a few months ago in the new Jurassic Park movie, he’s previous credits include Men in Black, Full Metal Jacket, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.  He played the villain Edgar in Men in Black and has taken on that role in a few other works.  He should make for a good contrast to the hero Daredevil who will be played by Charlie Cox of Boardwalk Empire.

Netflix will be streaming Pokemon

Pokemonseason1DVDBoxSet

Great news to all Pokemon fans, Netflix has acquired the first and fourteenth season of the anime.  The first season should be one that we are all familiar with Indigo League, I remember watching it as a kid.  It was my first introduction to Pokemon and I all could thing was how cool they were and how much I wanted a Pikachu.  Which caused me to get the Pokemon Yellow game and a Pikachu Tamagotchi.  The fourteenth season is called Black & White.  Two of the Pokemon animated movies have also been added.

No word at this time if the missing seasons will be added, if the show proves to be popular then they will more than likely look to add the missing seasons.  Make sure to watch the first season and tell all your friends to as well so Netflix can add the missing seasons.

Netflix joins with Marvel for Defenders series

Netflix has joined with Marvel/Disney and the Governor Cuomo of New York for a new series.  The series will start filming in New York this summer and Governor Cuomo is hoping that it will welcome addition by adding more jobs and revenue to the city.  The series will focus on the four defender characters; Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist since all four of them are the heroes of Hells Kitchen.

Defenders

How it will work is each character will get 13 hour-long episode just about them.  These will eventually lead into a Defenders series, it should equal out to about 60 episodes in total exclusively with Netflix.  The first part of the series will star Daredevil, I guess they are trying make people forget about that horrible Ben Affleck one.

“This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel’s brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty,” – Alan Fine the President of Marvel Entertainment

I have to say I am kind of excited for this, it will be a live action and since they are filming in New York they are at least trying to keep the location authentic.  I am hoping that by doing that they will keep the stories authentic as well.

“This serialized epic expands the narrative possibilities of on-demand television and gives fans the flexibility to immerse themselves how and when they want in what’s sure to be a thrilling and engaging adventure.” – Alan Fine

It will be nice to have a superhero series that can be watch on our own time instead making sure we tune in every Tuesday or Wednesday.  Granted DVR makes that possible but it is different with Netflix, Netflix can go anywhere with you, you can watch episode on the commute to work or school.  It is nice to be able to binge watch an entire season instead on having to deal with hiatus and wait for a new episode every week.

The new series is set to air on Netflix on 2015.
