Whoo-boy, has it been a big couple of days for Marvel movie announcements!
First, we get the news that Dr. Strange has been cast as none other than Benedict Cumberbatch…
It’s been a little while, but as summer winds down, and Wizard World approaches, nerd news will be
Kicking up again soon.
Today, in our quest to be nerdy and girly, we bring you another fandom-based nail art tutorial.
Let me start off by saying, as a fan of “Parks and Recreation,” it was delightful seeing Andy Dwyer in space.
Although there are certainly a good number of goofball moments, Chris Pratt’s performance was a great balance of criminal, hero, dork, and suave muthafucka. His Starlord really rather perfectly captures the qualities of the Everyman.
And then there’s this.
Nathan Fillion hinted months ago that he might have a cameo in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It has been confirmed by director James Gunn that Fillion will have a cameo role in the movie. This does not come as a shock to many people since Fillion has had a role some of Gunn’s other works. I am extremely excited to hear about Fillion’s cameo in the movie because I rather like him as an actor. His small role in Percy Jackson as Hermes was an amazing, he stole that scene. I am very curious to see what his will do with this role.
People have been speculating that Fillion might be playing the character of Nova, Gunn has confirmed that will not be happening. While Fillion will be in the movie he will not be taking on such an important role. Some people speculate that is because of his lead role on Castle he does not have the time to do it. This could be very true if the filming times conflict, but let’s be fair many TV stars have filmed a movie during the summer hiatus. It could also be because Gunn does not want to put Fillion on all of his movies. A lot of directors are like that, come on George Lucas was horribly against having Harrison Ford in Star Wars and Indiana Jones because he did not want to get a rep for always using the same people. Maybe Gunn decided that he should do some movie without Fillion having such a large role.
Whatever the reason, we do now that Fillion will have a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy. As to what role/character he will be playing no one knows. Many people are thinking he might play a role similar to the one he had on Firefly.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be out on Aug 1st.
The biggest, baddest, world-destroying-est villain has been cast for the Marvel Universe movies…
And it’s the guy who played George W. Bush.
A new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy has been released:
I like this trailer even better because it gives us a bit more on the characters but also gives us more actions scenes. Even though I will admit I was a bit disappointed to not to see more comedic moments with Chris Pratt. At the same time it’s not a comedy but an action movie so it was nice to get an idea of the kind of action that we will be seeing. It was nice to see more from Rocket Raccoon and Groot, this way we can actually get an idea of their personalities. Also loving that the female is the assassin, I am a fan of a deadly female.
Here is a synopsis for the movie:
“From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team–the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid; the deadly and enigmatic Gamora; and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand–with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.”
I know I will be seeing this in theaters when it come out August 1st, who else will be checking the movie out?
While Nathan Fillion is awesomeness, he can also be a bit of a tease. At St. Louis Comic Con, he teased about a possible Guardian of the Galaxy appearance.
Wanting to get the part… or maybe did? I’m just saying maybe. Maybe you’ll be surprised. Maybe. Check the credits.
Based on what Fillion said he either has such a brief cameo that you might miss it, hence why he is saying check the credits. On the other hand, Fillion could have a role in one of Marvel’s after credit scenes. I am going with and hoping it is the later, which means that we might be seeing Mr. Fillion on another Marvel movie.
Nathan Fillion and the Guardians of the Galaxy director have worked on other projects before. We all know that Fillion is friends with Joss Whedon so it would not he a shock to find him in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
I don’t know about the rest of you but this makes me even more excited to see the after credit scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy.
