Casting and TV Show News

Emma Watson - Belle

A lot of breaking news stories today, the first one being that Hermione herself has been cast in a live action version of Beauty and the Beast.  Emma Watson will be playing none other than Belle, which is a great role for her.  Watson let fans know on Facebook:

“I’m finally able to tell you… that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There’. My six year old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it. Emma xx”

I get very excited when I hear that an actor is excited for their role, that always makes me very happy and hopeful.  The movie will be directed by Guillermo del Toro, no word yet on who will be playing the Beast.

David-Tennant-Killgrave

In other casting news The Doctor himself has been cast as a villain in the upcoming Jessica Jones TV series on Netflix.  David Tennant will be playing Killgrave who is one of the main villains.  The creators of the show are very excited to have him on board.  Jessica Jones will be played by Krysten Ritter.

X-Men

In TV show news, Fox is in negotiations with Marvel about creating an a live action X-Men TV show.  While Fox does own the right to the X-Men franchise, the fully extent of the rights are not known.  It is not shocking to see Fox jump on the live action show bandwagon since Marvel has had success with Agents of SHIELD.

Nothing is set in stone, we would not see the show before 2016, but they are hopeful for the show.  Especially since Fox has had such great success with Gotham, some of the people from 24 and Star Trek 3 are being names as producers and writers on the show.

I would love to see a live action X-Men show, it would be interesting to see which of the comics they would use and what storylines they would use.  It could be really interesting because there are a lot of great stories to choose from.  With the younger cast they have for the movies they could start off with a some of the earlier storylines. That is if it will be the same cast from the movies, but that would be absolutely awesome, since it is an ensemble cast, they could very easily rotate people.  I am curious to see what happens with this development.

Those are all the new stories that broke out today, but it was a great day for news.  We will do our best to keep you up to date will all of these stories and more.

Apocalypse Cast for Next X-Men Movie

Oscar Isaac (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) has been cast as the titular villain for the next installment of Fox’s X-Men movie franchise.

2013, INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS

No word on how the actor will portray him, yet. That is, whether he’lll appear human, be under heavy make-up, or pretty much just be a CG creation a la Josh Brolin’s Thanos. “X-Men: Apocalypse” is almost certainly going to revolve around the villain of the same name, and many have been left to speculate that the movie will be heavily based on the 1995 comics storyline “Age of Apocalypse,” wherein the villain is the ruler of a world where mutants have risen up to overthrow and enslave humans.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” hits theatres on May 18th, 2016, and will pick up some time in the 1980s,

TFP votes for the new cast of ‘Age of Apocalypse’

With Age of Apocalypse up next for the X-Men movies and talks of recasting some of the roles with younger versions.  The ladies of TFP wanted to give our votes for who should be casted in this roles.

Storm:

lupita-nyongo-producers-guild-awards-2014-red-carpet

Lupita Nyong’o.

She is from Africa, specifically Kenya which is where Storm is from, she already has the accent.  I can see her with white hair and blue contacts.  I think she could pull off the punk look or her first appearance look.  Lupita has that regal nature to her as evident by her Oscar speech.  She proved to have incredible acting talent in 12 Years a Slave, she has already acted with Magneto.  Let us just hope she does not suffer from the Oscar does not make you a good superhero curse many of the females suffer from like Hallie Berry.

Jean Grey:

bryce-dallas-howard

Bryce Dallas Howard

She would be a great Jean Grey, one she is a natural red head.  She also has some great acting roles, she was the wife in Terminator Salvation so she proved that she can handle a bit of action.  Howard was the bitchy girl in The Help, which proves she play the stuck up element of Jean Grey.  Just look at that picture you could just see her as the cheerleader girl next door which is so Jean.  Next to (insert name) as Scott they would just look perfect, like the perfect couple, just as Jean and Scott should.

We could not agree on anyone to be Scott because out of the younger actors no one really stands out.  James Marsden was such a perfect Scott it is hard to find anyone to top him, with some make-up to make him look younger they could just bring him back. If you have any suggestions for Scott Summers please let us know.

X-Men: Professor X and Magneto Bromance

I have always loved the bromance of Professor Xavier and Magneto. I have to say that Days of Future Past did a great job playing off that bromance. I want to take a look at their amazing bromance with special emphasis on Days of Future Past obviously this will contain Spoilers you have been warned.

Manicure Mondays – Wolverine!

After a long hiatus– and because I managed to break every single nail repeatedly for several weeks Ina row– Manicure Mondays are back at TFP!

This week, we do a little mutant magic and have a set of nails inspired by probably the best known of the X-Men, Wolverine!

20140602-105431-39271547.jpg

Modeled after his classic blue and yellow costume, of course.

Start out with a nice bright yellow, painting every nail the same colour.

20140601-232012-84012362.jpg

Now, for the designs, you really have got quite a few options here. And all that you’ll need is a blue nail polish pen.

For the first nail, a simple set of three thin lines at an angle to represent his trademarked adamantium claws.

20140602-105826-39506590.jpg

For the second, a set of three triangular marks like those on his costume over the obliques.

20140602-110359-39839927.jpg

Fill them in…

20140602-110442-39882870.jpg

For the third, a double-walled yellow knockout of a triangle surrounded by a flood of blue, like it looks coming up and over his collarbones.

20140602-111513-40513552.jpg

For the fourth, the pinkie, an easy set of simple, tapered lines, like the ones that run down the front of his torso.

20140602-111355-40435644.jpg

And, last, the thumb, with artwork inspired by his mask.

20140602-111714-40634582.jpg

Of course, you don’t have to stick to these five designs by any means. Throw in an “X” symbol in a circle. Reverse some of the colours. Use the brown and burnt orange palette or black and yellow or black and grey to reflect some of his other costumes. Just have fun with it!

Let us know if you try any of our Monday Manicures for yourselves! We love comments and unique takes on our stuff!

And, of course, suggestions for future Manicure Mondays are always welcomed.

Until next week!

X-Men: Days of Future Past – Let’s Talk About That Credits Scene

HO-Kay. Still not quite come down from this movie, but let’s take a second to talk about that end credits scene.

This post doesn’t contain actual spoilers for anything that happens in the body of the film (I might allude to things, but I won’t specify), but if you’d still like to be surprised by the post-credits stinger, then please revisit us when you’ve already seen the movie.

Hmmm... I actually really like this poster a lot.

X-Men: Days of Future Past – Rogue’s Deleted Scene

Seen Days of Future Past? Grateful for Anna Paquin being mostly cut from the film but still a slave to morbid curiosity and therefore curious as to what exactly her story would have been? Well, here’s a look into what that might have entailed.

I wanna say that's Iceman on the right...

I wanna say that’s Iceman on the right…

According to screenwriter Simon Kinberg:

“The biggest chunk we took out of the film from first cut to final cut was the Rogue plot. And that was the sub-plot that has now been well-publicized, but that I created, not actually to bring Rogue into the movie, though that was a wonderful consequence, but more that I wanted to have—and this was in the early script phase—I wanted a mission for old Charles and old Erik, for Magneto and Xavier to go off on a mission together.”

This would have amounted to roughly 10 additional minutes of screen time. Plus, it featured more screen time for older Professor X and Magneto, going on a solo mission of their own, a little road trip that had something to do with Rogue. Awesome, right? Except for maybe not…

“Just to see what that would look like. I mean, truly, seriously, it was like, ‘What would it be like to have Patrick and Ian on a road trip together?’ And that was kind of, you know, it got condensed as I wrote it and then when we shot it, but it was just a sub-plot. It was a perfectly good sub-plot and people will see it one day, and Anna was great in it and it was well-directed; it just didn’t serve the overall story. And it didn’t, it never did, it was created outside the core story. As a result, when you watched the movie, you were like, ‘Why are we on this detour, on a movie that already has two time periods, two types of Sentinels, 10-12 main characters, just as a lark?’ And so it ended up getting cut.”

Above, I’ve got a screengrab taken from one of the first trailers. It shows Magneto and Rogue and some dude supporting her, probably Ice Man. So, really, it looks like this is a whole damsel-saving deal and, frankly, if it features more of Rogue being useless, then I’m alright with her having been almost entirely cut from the film.

Guess we’ll have to wait for the DVD/Blu-Ray to see what exactly it all entailed. Be sure that we’re going to revisit this scene then.

See you there!
