Here we are at a new episode of SHIELD and this was one looks to be a lot more promising then the last episode. Really the only highlights of last weeks is that Mac can understand Fitz a bit, Raina is back, and we saw Skye’s dad. Yes, they really killed off Xena after one episode.
Agents of Shield is back for another exciting season, if we all remember what happened last season. Garrett and Ward were Hydra agents, SHIELD was destroyed, Coulson was made Director, some alien DNA brought Coulson back, and Skye’s father is some red creature.
With Agents of SHIELD starting next week I thought we would go over what we would like to see happen on the second season.
Here we are at the season finale of SHIELD, very happy to say that it is the season finale and that we will be seeing the show again next year. The most important things to remember from last episode is that Garrett now has GH325 in him. Ward is possibly an ass because he ejected Fitz and Simmons into the ocean. We learned Ward’s back story and he has always been Hydra. Oh, that the Howling Commandos had some really awesome gadgets back in the day.
Here we are again for another episode of Agents of SHIELD, last week we found out the truth about Ward, I am still rather upset about that. The rest of Coulson’s team found an underground SHIELD bunker to stay at for now.
Well here, we are after last week’s crazy episode where we learned that we pretty much can’t trust anyone. (Still some spoilers for Captain America: Winter Solider)
Well this is one of the most anticipated episodes of Agents of SHIELD. Quick recap, Ward shot Thomas Nash who they thought was the Clairvoyant. Turns out the Clairvoyant is in SHIELD and SHIELD is currently controlling the plane. They found out about May’s secret phone. This episode contains Spoilers for Captain America: Winter Solider – since I have the movie, I will be making tie in references you have been warned.
(Spoilers – last warning this will contain some spoilers for Captain America: Winter Solider.)
After a 2 weeks break we get an all new episode, I have to say I am happy that there will be no more breaks between episodes. Let’s recap last episode, well Lorelei escaped from Asguard and enslaved Ward. Lady Sif came down to bring Lorelei back to Asguard. While Ward was enslaved, we discovered that he cares about someone on the team who is not May.
This episode starts with Agent Garrett and Agent Triplett being attacked by Deathlok. I still don’t like his chest piece.
Deathlok attacking them makes Agent Garrett think that they are getting close to the Clairvoyant.
Victoria Hand, Agent Garrett, Agent Triplett, Agents Sidwell and Agent Blake all come aboard the Bus. Of course, most of them are wondering why they are there. Since the team knows that the Clairvoyant is on to them, Coulson has come up with a plan, where they do not tell everyone all the information so it is harder for the Clairvoyant to ‘see’ all the information. Coulson mentions that he has an amazing hacker who can help them. Victoria Hand mentions how she would have to be a SHIELD agent and Coulson says that is something else he wanted to discuss.
Fitz and Simmons are talking about how they cannot find anything in Skye’s blood and how they wish they could send the sample out. May over hears them and asks if either Coulson or Skye are showing any weird symptoms. Simmons tells her no and then May tells them to let her know if they do. What does May know? What was she sent there to find out?
The team meets with Skye, where Coulson presents her with a SHIELD badge, telling her that she earned it. Garrett mentions how she took 2 bullets which is more than Sidwell has. Coulson’s team congratulates her, even May and it was obvious that Ward likes Skye during this scene.
Victoria Hand and Sidwell will not be participating in the mission but Victoria agrees to monitor and help them from HQ. I wondering if Sidwell could not participate because he was busy on Captain America. Skye then tells them that she will come up three different possible people who could be the Clairvoyant. Three teams of two people will go out after that person, she will only tell one member of that team where they are going and then send the information about the target to the other member of the team. This way only those team members know where they are and whom they are going after.
The Clairvoyant gives Deathlok a gift, a wrist gauntlet that at first kinda looked like the bracelets that Wonder Woman has. The Clairvoyant tells Deathlok that they are going to meet because the team is closing in on him.
Garrett and Skye finally meet officially because you know being in a coma doesn’t count, Garrett asks her how she is doing. Garrett then shows off his war wounds. Nothing says team bonding like showing off your war wounds.
Ward and Triplett are one team; Triplett says how he will kill the Clairvoyant when they find him. Ward reminds him that the mission is to bring in the Clairvoyant not kill him.
Triplett tells Ward how the Clairvoyant killed his partner, Triplett wonders if Ward would feel the same way if Skye hadn’t made it. Does everyone know that Ward likes Skye?
Coulson and Garrett are the another team; they are talking about a past mission that Garrett had completely forgot that Coulson was there.
Also they are going after a female, I am pretty sure everyone has said the Clairvoyant is a male.
The third team is May and Blake, Blake is apparently nervous or something because he keeps trying to ask May if she is a Scorpio. Which prompts May to say, ‘you don’t believe in the Clairvoyant but you believe in Astrology.” May and Blake are going after Thomas Nash – once they are inside the building Deathlok shows up.
Well I am guessing that May and Blake are on the right track. Deathlok begins firing at them and May fires back with a gun, May is using a gun, I get shocked every time I see it happen. Deathlok goes after Blake and knocks him out. May calls to let them know that they have an Agent down and Victoria sends people.
We learn that before Blake got injured that he managed to put a trace on Deathlok so they know where he is going. Triplett talks with Simmons about something before he leaves to go after Deathlok. Simmons looks very happy to see Triplett, does she return his crush? What is up with the bus does everyone on here have a crush on someone. Also I would like to point out that Fitz did not seem jealous about this at all which proves that my theory that they are do not like each other but more like siblings or best friends.
The team gets ready to enter into the abandon building where Deathlok is currently. Skye does her hacking thing to find him but somehow he knows what she is doing and cuts the feed.
The team knows where he had been so they head in that direction. They find Deathlok who fires on them and takes off with May chasing after him.
Deathlok runs to another part of the building where Coulson who is using a rather large gun follows him. I have to say I really want to see Coulson use this gun, because it’s almost bigger then him.
As Coulson is pursuing Deathlok he runs into Garrett. Both Garrett and Coulson find Thomas Nash who is confined to a wheelchair and is using a computer to talk. In front of Nash are bunches of monitors where he can view various parts of the outside world.
Nash says that he is the Clairvoyant, the rest of the teams enter the room. Thomas Nash taunts them with information that he knows but when he brings up Skye, well Ward shoots him. Everyone looks at Ward as if he has lost his mind because Ward killed Nash.
I would like to say that I am not buying Thomas Nash as the Clairvoyant because it seems too easy.
Back on the bus Skye visits Wards asking him why he shot Nash and what will happen to him. Ward will be sent through a hearing and probably disciplined for what he has done.
Fitz is tinkering about in the bottom of the bus where he finds a secret phone line. Coulson and Skye talk about how they don’t think Nash was the Clairvoyant and they both come up with how the Clairvoyant knows everything that SHIELD seems to know. Since Coulson’s records were never released that is why the Clairvoyant could not ‘see’ it. That is when they realize that the Clairvoyant is in SHIELD. Coulson goes into the interrogation room where he demands Ward to tell him who told him to shoot Nash. Ward tells Coulson that no one did.
Fitz tells Simmons about what he found only to have May walk in on him. May ushers him out of the room and she begins to use the phone. Simmons tells Coulson how there is a secret phone line in the cockpit that only May could be using. Coulson tells her to cut the line so Fitz cuts the line before May can make her phone call. May realizes what happens and chases after Fitz. Poor Fitz, I would not want May chasing after me. Coulson finds May in the hanger bay after she tries to shoot Fitz, why is May all gun happy now?
May tells Coulson that the bullets are not real; Coulson tells May that his gun and bullets are real. Coulson is pissed and his inner badass is coming out. Skye also comes out from the shadows holding a gun pointing at May.
Coulson asks May about who the Clairvoyant is and who she is working for. May says she know nothing about the Clairvoyant and cannot tell him who sent her. May tries to convince Coulson that she is not the bad guy.
Out of nowhere, the plane reroutes and Coulson’s demands that May tells him what is going on. May has no idea who is controlling the plane.
Back at HQ, Victoria Hand is saying that they need to bring Coulson in but everyone else on the bus can be eliminated.
I knew it was Victoria Hand because I have never liked her.
This was a good episode; it started off a bit slow but not in a bad way. I like their plan to find the Clairvoyant and I really liked how Coulson told Skye how much he trusts her. Coulson knows that Skye can pick up different things because she does not think like everyone else. I would also like to remark on how everyone seems to know that Ward likes Skye even Garrett. I feel really bad for Deathlok because he has no choice in what he is doing and he really just wants to see his son again. I was on the edge of my seat when May was chasing Fitz, because I really wanted to see what she might do to him. I really think May is working for Fury because he just wanted an eye kept on Coulson. While I think it might be too easy for Victoria Hand to be the Clairvoyant, I really don’t like her so I would like it to be her. That means I am also willing to get over the fact that they usually say that the Clairvoyant is a guy.
Next, week’s episode looks to be a really good one because it seems that no one can b trusted. The team has to deal with the fact that the place is flying on its own. I am also curious to see if the next episode ties into Captain America: Winter Solider.
Until next week.
Lets recap what happened in last weeks episode, well we basically get some idea of what happened to Coulson after his apparent “death”. All I can say about that is feels, lots of feels.
This episode starts off in the SHIELD academy where some of the students are going into the pool. While swimming in the pool, a giant sheet of ice starts across the top of the pool.
My first thought was Iceman is at the SHIELD Academy (yes, I know he can’t because of all the legal stuff but hey ice and its marvel – it was a logical jump to). It did make for a good action scene at the beginning of the show.
In the Bus, Ward, Fitz, Simmons, and Skye are all talking about the SHIELD Academy. Skye is trying to understand it better since she never attended. Fitz tells her she would have been recruited to the easiest part of the academy. Naturally Skye wants to know which part is the hardest to get into, Ward says Operations, Fitz and Simmons say theirs. There is definitely rivalry between those two sections, it is not surprising since we find out that basically none of the section communicate with each other. Coulson is hiding in his office looking at the file of his death that Nick Fury had sent over.
We find out that Coulson and May won’t be joining them at the academy. They instead they will be heading to Mexico to check out a lead that could give them more info into Skye’s past, not that they tell anyone else on the team this.
Ward, Fitz, Simmons, and Skye get to the academy, which causes Ward to make fun of the science division. That causes Fitz to make fun of Ward’s division. Fitz and Simmons are whisked off because well they are big shit on campus.
Fitz and Simmons come in to give a talk to the student body, which is actually going very well until Donnie one of the students turns into a block of ice. Iceman is apparently at the academy (I guess the x-mansion was getting boring) and he doesn’t like Donnie.
We find out some great information about Donnie, he is basically super smart and is a stand out much like Fitz and Simmons who were the youngest to graduate.
May and Coulson are chilling in Lola looking for the guy who could give them more information on Skye’s past.
May is trying to convince Coulson to stop obsessing about what was in the file and about what happened to him. May tells him she knew him before and after if she thought there was anything more or anything that needed to be looked into she would help him, but she doesn’t. Coulson does not want any more secrets, so May tells him that she has been sleeping with Ward. Right at that moment Coulson sees the guy they are looking for (Agent Lumley). May jumps out of the car and run after him while Coulson follows along in Lola. May gets Lumley into the alley where she fights him; this guy must have left SHIELD before May became a thing because seriously fighting her is dumb.
I will give Lumley credit he does manage to get a hit on May that might be the first time anyone has hit her all season. As Lumley is running up the fire escape to get away, Coulson blocks him by flying up in Lola. Coulson tells Lumley that they are from SHIELD and Lumley is excited to hear this because he thought they were someone else going after him. He knows that they are there because of the girl.
Ward, Simmons, and Skye all head down to the boiler room, of course Ward makes fun of the fact that they hang out in the boiler room. That is until he sees what they have done to it; of course, the nerd kids modified it, there are lights, tables, pool table, and a bar. Ward is quite jealous because they have nothing like this in Operations. Skye find out who else was up for the Sandbox (the place you want to go to) in order to find out who might have something against Donnie. Apparently, Iceman is not up for the Sandbox nor is he actually at the academy. Skye points him towards a girl playing pool; Ward goes over to make friends with her.
Well this girl happens to be fake Katniss from Starving Games the horrible Hunger Games spoof – if you have not seen it check out my previous blog post about it before seeing it. Fitz on the other hand was sent off to talk to Donnie. Donnie is doing the loner thing in his room. Fitz reaches out to Donnie by basically telling him that he was like him, he hated the school but it all changed when he made a friend. Fitz notices Donnie’s ideas along the wall, Donnie shows Fitz his idea for something else that he cannot get to work. Fitz being the helpful person that he is tells him how to fix it. Back in the boiler room, Ward continues to talk to the girl who basically tells them that Donnie and Seth have been talking to each other about how Fitz was coming to the school. They are both huge Leo Fitz fans. Fitz was never supposed to come to the school until this happened….oh no they are the ones who have been freezing everyone. Simmons calls Fitz to make sure he is all right, Fitz then realizes that Donnie was trying to create basically an ice gun. Fitz goes running towards Donnie’s room to confront him only to be hit in the head with an air gun by Seth.
Coulson and May are talking to Lumley, they find out that him and his partner had been called in to investigate a 0-8-4. When they get there, an entire Chinese village was dead and so were various SHIELD agents. They had all died to protect Skye who is considered to be the 0-8-4. Wasn’t an 0-8-4 an alien or unidentified object in the second episode? Lumley’s partner took her from a dead agents arm and then took her to an orphanage. From there Skye was bounced around different foster homes to protect her, Lumley’s partner was killed by people trying to find Skye. May begs Coulson to not tell Skye any of this information.
Donnie and Seth have been working for Ian Quinn who we have not seen since Skye infiltrated his home while undercover for SHIELD. Seth calls Quinn telling him that they have been discovered. Quinn is not happy to hear this and convinces Seth to turn on the machine so he can see what it does. Seth then peer pressures Donnie who is not sure about turning on the machine to do it otherwise Quinn won’t give them the money. Donnie does it, (note peer pressure sucks) but it is a waste because Quinn had already decided to turn his plane back around and give up on the boys.
Skye and Simmons are on the plane; Skye confronts Coulson about why he is ignoring her. Coulson then tell Skye about everything he had discovered causing Skye to cry. Coulson’s only way to comfort her is to touch her cheek. This caused a lot of feels for Skye.
The machine Donnie has created caused a massive ice storm around the school. Ward, who was chilling in the basement the whole time, tries to go outside but the storm was too much.
May decides to fly into the storm since the only way in is through the eye of the storm. Donnie tries to turn off the machine because is it causing way too much damage but the machine explodes throwing him and Seth back. May wins the pilot of the year award by flying the plane into the storm without killing anyone. The team runs out and grabs both Donnie and Seth and then flies out of there. Seth sustained horrible trauma to the head. While Simmons does her, best to save him Coulson calls it. Donnie now has to deal with the fact that he killed his only friend.
Donnie is being shipped off to the Sandbox but not as a scientist but for observation. May confronts Coulson about telling Skye about her past but Coulson tells her that Skye took it very well. Instead of it, destroying her she actually said that she was wrong about thinking no one wanted her; this whole time she had a SHIELD family watching her. Skye visits the wall of fallen agents to say good-bye to Lumley’s partner.
While Donnie is being taken over to the Sandbox, we discover that he can create ice from his finger. Again, I go to Iceman, but since this is Avengers he has to be Blizzard – I foresee a future villain.
Coulson calls Quinn to tell him that he knows what he was up to and that he should stop because SHIELD is after him. Quinn just tells Coulson that the Clairvoyant tell him hello.
This was another good episode of SHIELD, I enjoyed finding out more about the SHIELD Academy. It was great to see who popular Fitz and Simmons are now. Of course, it was great to see Ward being all Operations pride. I am happy that Coulson did not keep Skye’s past from her. It was really great to see that maturity in her character. She really took that great, I don’t think I would have taken that as well as her. I do have a question about the whole ice storm thing the machine broke. Wouldn’t that mean the storm just keeps going, there was no mention of how they stopped it. It is just disappear because if that is what happened then I think we found the cause of the polar vortex. I guess we just accept that broken machine means the storm eventually stops.
Well join me again in a few weeks when I will recap the next episode of SHIELD. I am very excited for this episode because it will have special guest star Stan Lee.
