X-Men: Days of Future Past – Let’s Talk About That Credits Scene

HO-Kay. Still not quite come down from this movie, but let’s take a second to talk about that end credits scene.

This post doesn’t contain actual spoilers for anything that happens in the body of the film (I might allude to things, but I won’t specify), but if you’d still like to be surprised by the post-credits stinger, then please revisit us when you’ve already seen the movie.

Hmmm... I actually really like this poster a lot.

Hmmm… I actually really like this poster a lot.

So, Days of Future Past was great. Really. Not, “I’m a fan of the frnachise to the point of being a sycophant” good, but actually GOOD. More on that in my review.

But, the scene after the credits, as well all ought to know by know to stay later for any Marvel movie, was something to really talk about. We see a massive expanse of sand and settle on a lone figure on a high dune, arms raised and standing before throngs of chanting supplicants.

They are chanting “En Sabah Nur,” over and over again. Comic fans will know that name. It means “The First One.”

The first mutant!

We know him as Apocalypse.

And there, in the distance, are those guys on horses. Horsemen, if you will. Four of them. FOUR OF THEM.

So, Apocalypse’s Four Horsemen. And, although we are certain to see Apocalypse in the next movie, facing off against the X-Men, he will, by then, have a new set of acolytes. And one of these lackeys, in the Age of Apocalypse storyline in particular, his harbinger or Pestilence, is Mr. Sinister.

Is the diamond thingy on his forehead SUPPOSED to be glowing?!

Is the diamond thingy on his forehead SUPPOSED to be glowing?!

And with the return of… certain characters… at the end of Days of Future Past, and Sinister’s obsessions, we may get a glimpse into other awesome storylines. Maybe a certain saga done right…

But we also know that Mr. Sinister tends to bring a certain Cajun with a tendency to Ragin’ with him. And we also already know that this is happening, by all accounts (pardon my hasty Photoshopping):

Could it be? Can we have nice things, after all? Can certain storylines converge and create the stories and the relationships that we Fangirls, at least, have been waiting to see since Hugh Jackman first got his claws?!

Based on the storytelling of DoFP and what looks to be a great opening weekend, we’re going to be anxiously awaiting this next installment. There are so many possibilities for that movie and for future films as well!

Check back with TFP often for any updates as more X-Men news comes out and production begins on the next movie.

X-Men: Apocalypse comes to theaters May 27, 2016.

  1. Thank you!

  2. Also. That photoshop actually makes me a little more excited. I wasn’t sold when the news broke, but you’ve helped sway me. Kudos.
