Amy Acker is joining Agents of SHIELD

We all know how much Joss Whedon loves working with the same people, so we knew it was only a matter of time before we saw people from Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse.  Whedon had already started by using J. August Richards who was Gunn on Angel, well Mr. Whedon went back to the Angel (and Dollhouse) cast and has cast Amy Acker as Audrey, Agent’s Coulson’s cellist girlfriend.

Acker’s character had previously been established in Avengers when Agent Coulson and Pepper Potts are talk about Coulson’s long distance relationship with a cellist.  The character of Audrey had been mentioned in a previous episode of Agents of SHIELD when they told Coulson that she had cried after learning about his death.  Audrey is set to appear in an episode a few weeks from now and she has no idea that Coulson is alive.

Agents of SHIELD did have this to say about the character of Audrey:

“A talented musician turning heads in Portland, Audrey believes Coulson to be dead and has no idea that he’s guarding her from a distance as a super-powered threat from her past re-emerges.

It will be very interesting to see how that episode play out, I am a fan of Acker as an actress so it should be good.  Now that Whedon is starting to pull from his previous shows, it makes you wonder who else is going to pop up.  Alyson Hannigan’s show is ending this season and David Boreanaz’s show will be ending next season.  I know that Alexis Denisof does not have a huge part on Grimm, but he is a part of a big story line, maybe a guest spot from him in the future.  Of course Eliza Dushku, Charmisa Charpenter, and Alan Tudyk are possible.  Unsure if we will see Nathan Fillon, Sarah Michelle Geller, and Gina Torres since they are all on current running shows.  Whedon has worked with many great actors, I am sure we will be seeing them in future episodes once Agents of SHIELD gets picked up for another season.

Who is excited to see Amy Acker on another Whedon show?  Who else would you like to see make a guest appearance or become a recurring character?

  1. I think this will drastically help the show. It’s nice to hear another the show is rebounding, and I hope they can keep up the momentum.

I think it will as well, I have to say that Agents of SHIELD has been improving. Now that they are getting more into the characters on the show but they are also pulling from Marvel lore. The show is now more about bringing in characters from Avengers/Thor/Captain America/Iron Man/Hulk lore and putting them on the show. When the show first started it definitely was all about Coulson being alive and how can we name drop members of the Avengers into a script. Now it feels like the show has taken on a life of its own. Naturally Joss Whedon had to do the slow reveal/ build-up to everything. I suspect that is why ABC is waiting to make a call on the show, because they want to see what Joss Whedon has planned and how the audience reacts to it. I am hoping that this build-up that have been eluding to is good and worth it, but it is Joss Whedon so it more then likely will be.
